“My sexual advances on Simi are merely an artistic endeavor.” – Brymo
Unconventional vocalist Ọlawale Ọlọfọr㻍, better known by his stage name Brymo, has defended his request for sex in exchange for music from Simisola Kosoko, a female colleague.
After posting an audio recording on his X account and disclosing that he had turned down Simi’s request to work with him because she wouldn’t have a sexual relationship with him, Brymo caused a stir.
Singer Adekunle Gold, Simi’s husband, took offense at his admission and advised him to “stay away” from his wife and “stop disrespecting” his family.
But Brymo recently justified his approaches on Simi sexually, calling them “an artistic pursuit,” in an interview with TVC.
“I was just like, ‘Oh!'” when he encountered Adekunle Gold one day while out and about.Gold. It was my first encounter with him. And he asked for cooperation. I told him straight out, “Oga, I’m not doing any collaboration right now,” when he approached me.
After two weeks, Simi arrived. I was unaware that Simi and Adekunle Gold were a couple. You are all undoubtedly aware of Falz. The fall that I was meant to take, he took. The target was me. I’m a smart person, though.
“I said nothing specific when I saw her [Simi], other than the fact that I work with women and we get to bed together, so it can get extremely hot. Did she and Adekunle Gold not share a bed? Does this not explain why the music is so excellent? However, she declined, so I said, “Okay, bye-bye,” and After that, she departed.
I made the proposal to other people besides her. But hey, what do you know? I have seven women on my music. None of them allowed me to sleep with them.
“I’ve recorded songs with four women since that happened. That [sexual] conversation was not even between us. We simply composed some music. So, my request for sex in exchange for cooperation wasn’t the issue. No, that wasn’t the topic at all. It was an artistic endeavor for me.
