Before eventually accepting her husband, musician Bankole Wellington, also known as Banky W, for a year and a half, Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington, disclosed that she had “friend-zoned” him.

The actor delivered a speech on Sunday during a service at the Waterbrooks Church in Lagos.

She claimed that not receiving a message from God at the time was one of the reasons she “friend-zoned” him.

The speaker noted that friendship is a crucial factor in establishing the groundwork for a relationship. For a year and a half, I avoided friends with my husband [laughs].

I excluded him as a buddy for two reasons. First of all, I wasn’t positive whether I had received guidance from God on whether or not this individual was truly my match. Three reasons, actually. Next, getting married to Banky W [laughs]. I thought, “My life is chaotic enough on its own; why would I marry Banky now?” No, no, no.

Thirdly, merely making an effort to maintain a friendship. And to be very honest, I think a lot of what has made our relationship what it is today is the friendship we built over the course of a year and a half. My man is Banky W. He would still be my guy even if you took away the romance, the sex, and everything else that constitutes a marriage. Banky is my closest pal.

Banky W implied, “No, don’t have sex. Don’t take it away [laughs].” that on November 19, 2017, Banky W and Adesua Etomi married the marriage in a star-studded ceremony after enthralling moviegoers with their on-screen chemistry in “The Wedding Party.”ceremony. Hazaiah, their first son, was welcomed in January 2021.
