The Ogun State Police Command stated that it is aware of cultists’ plans to terrorize the people of the State while Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Fitr worldwide.
However, the police gave the people of Ogun peace of mind, saying that they had put in place a “robust security arrangement” to guarantee a smooth celebration to commemorate the conclusion of the Ramadan fast in 2023.

“The command is not oblivious of the recent upsurge in the violent activities of some hoodlums masquerading as cultists to unleash terror on innocent people of the state,” stated Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun.

In order to achieve this, Oyeyemi claimed that DCP Babakura Muhammad, the acting commissioner of police, had strategically deployed highly skilled tactical and covert police officers.

According to Abimbola, the police squad was assigned to cover the entire state of Ogun in order to guarantee a crime-free Eid el-Fitr celebration.

According to him, in order to prevent any violent crimes from occurring before, during, or after the Islamic celebration, agents from the SWAT, PMF, Anti Kidnapping and Anti Cultism, Tactical Response, and Intelligence units have also been sent in.

He also mentioned that Ogun’s event and amusement centers, as well as its places of worship, would be under constant observation.

Men from the Safer Highway Patrol and the Federal have reportedly also been instructed to make sure that commuters are safe when driving.
