Following her rescue, Mrs. Bridget Esene, the kidnapped spokesperson for the Nigerian Immigration Service’s Edo State Command, described her experience being held captive by her captors.
Recall that on Sunday, January 24, five armed men abducted Mrs. Esene and followed her to her church in the Benin City village of Ikhueniro.
The Police moved quickly to gain her release from her captors after she was kidnapped.
But according to Chidi Nwabuzor, the Edo State Police Command spokesperson, Mrs. Esene was freed at around 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
Nwabuzor omitted to mention whether a ransom was paid to free her.
Speaking to reporters, Esene described how the kidnappers had taken her at gunpoint and sold her to a different group.
She claimed that after being brought to the forest, she was given over to more kidnappers who led her farther into the forest.
“The five gunmen pushed me into the car and drove me off the church grounds. They later sold me to another group of kidnappers who may or may not be herders.
Later, the armed guys led me into the forest, where I was met by a few more seasoned kidnappers.
“I was taken farther into the forest by another group of gunmen after I was sold.”
